Pasta with Red Hot Sauce

2 tablespoons canola oil
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 teaspoon dried garlic (optional)
1 pkg ( 1 pound or 454 gram package) wieners - any kind
3 tablespoons chopped parsley
1 can of tomato sauce ( 680 ml or 2 and 1/2 cups )
1/2 cup water
1/8 - 1/4 tsp red crushed pepper ( use black pepper if you don't have red)
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon oregano ( optional)
1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 1/4 cup cold water
8 ounces pasta - cooked according to package directions

Slice the wieners diagonally into small slices. Place oil, onion, garlic and sliced wieners into saucepan and fry gently over medium heat until slightly browned. Add parsley, tomato sauce, water, salt and oregano. Boil gently over medium heat for 10 minutes. Now stir in the cornstarch/water mixture to thicken the sauce. Continue to simmer over low heat for another 10 minutes. Serve over hot cooked pasta.
